Home away from home

After living within walking distance to my college in Cardiff it was hard to think about commuting to and from Sydney every day when I got home so until the end of the year I will be staying at my friends house in Sydney for two nights a week. It's a big relief and will make the next five months so much easier. Plus I get to see them every week, which is lots of fun.

I have known Chris since I was 23 and we were at art college together. Her youngest daughter was in nappies then - she'll be 21 in September! As well as being a talented artist, Chris is a real bower-bird who has the most gorgeous home you can imagine full of op-shop finds and original artworks acquired over the years. Most mornings I spend sipping my coffee just admiring her arrangement of wonderful objects, not to mention Matt's great book and music collections.

Thanks to Chris I have a few fabulous chooky things, the latest of which is this 1950s handbag, complete with beads and a wooden base!

Spectacular, no?
I couldn't help taking a few photos when I was down last week - I'm sure Chris won't mind if I share a little bit of her home with you. Honestly, this is only a tiny glimpse of their beautiful home:

The lounge room with just a few of Matt's vinyl treasures on the architraves
The dining room complete with retro drinks trolly
Just a few of the many Bambis in Chris' collection

Oh, I do so love that bag. I've been looking high and low for one, but haven't yet come across one. And now, seeing yours, my standards have gone up a notch!
