In terms of egg laying, we aren't getting what we used to. So...oh dear this seems a bit crazy and also a bit sad so soon after Pumpkin (RIP)... tomorrow we are taking delivery of two new girls! They are 12 weeks old and a breed we've wanted for a long time but haven't had much luck with: Light Sussex. Here's what our girls will (hopefully) grow into it:

So there is a wee bit of excitement in the house today as we prepare for our new girls and start the silly name game which is always entertaining. Feel free to add your thoughts - obvious themes are anything that is white. So far we have come up with, and rejected:
Whitey
Porridge
Sago
As you can see, we have a long way to go!

Oh Jacqui how lovely! Light Sussex are such gorgeous chooks too.
I was just going to let you know (after your post on my blog) that yes, I would be very happy for you to take one or more of our girls, but here you are already gone and done it! No messin' round there!
Anyway, I am going to finally update my blog with my ridiculous amount of chooks now!
Best of luck with the sussex girls x
Our oldest chook "Little Louise" is hitting 8 years now. Our rooster "Charles" is 11 years old.
We have just bought point-of-lay Isas and they are cute little things. Love the little buggers. The old chooks are slowing down and we decided we needed some 'young blood'.
Have fun with your new chooks - it's lovely to have all these chooks. Such entertaining things they are. :)
Hi Lisa - I didn't mean to get some so quickly! Our friends are wanting some so I was ostensibly just looking for them - yeah right! :)
Veggie - made me very happy to read about your boy being 11! Love that his name is Charles too! And little Louise...gives me hope my girls might be with us for a good while yet.
Scarface?
Fishguts?
